When one tugs at a single thing in nature, you find it attached to the rest of the world.

- John Muir, Conservationist

Medicine River Wildlife Centre is a hospital for wild animals. It is not a zoo, but a place for animals to recover from injuries. Our goal is to repair the damage and eventually release them back into the wild. If orphans are brought in, we find them new families, in the wild, so they can be raised to know what they are.

We are also an education centre. Have we ever been into your classroom? Since the 1990s, our educators have been visiting schools, community groups, summer camps, libraries, and more, encouraging others to support and respect wildlife. One of our Animals Educators always makes an appearance too!

Throughout much of the year, we also have a beautiful nature trail for visitors to explore. There is much to see, especially during the summer when the wetland, which is viewable from our lookout tower, is alive with hundreds of species of plants, birds, and animals. You can also come and enjoy our super fun Wildlife Homes Playground! Play like and animal in our giant sized birdhouse, owl’s nest, beaver lodge, and fox den!
