When one tugs at a single thing in nature, you find it attached to the rest of the world.

Family of skunks on grass

Wildlife can come into conflict with people when deer eat gardens, skunks den under sheds, porcupine eat our favourite apple tree, or pigeons, mice, bats, and squirrels move into buildings. This conflict can be solved by understanding the animal and its habits while carefully looking at what we may have accidentally done to encourage them. When we leave garbage uncovered, pet food outside, porches and sheds accessible, grow tasty plants, and let chickens run loose, we inadvertently invite a number of species of wild animals into our yards. Understanding our neighbours makes for healthier, safer, and more inclusive communities.

In the Living With Wildlife section you can find information on species you might encounter, some common conflict situations, and their solutions.

We also have a Wildlife Conflict Specialist on staff to help resolve your concerns. If you require further advice or assistance, please complete and submit the following form, and you will receive a response within the next 1-2 days.
